If you still think of old country westerns and piano’s when you hear the word “saloon,” then you have not had the “Saloon experience” of Charleston.

Visit Market Street Saloon at 32 – D North Market Street for a high energy experience like none other with choreographed dances from the saloon girls, fantastic happy hour deals, and a restaurant menu comprised of homemade barbeque and sauces that have won over 38 awards in three short years.

Better yet, check out their nightly occurring specials of $12 “Saddle Up Punch” in a souvenir Yard Glass or a $3 specialty shot. Need plans for a Thursday Night? Market Street Saloon is the place to go on a Thursday for $3 Long Island Iced Teas.

If the deals are not enough to convince you, check out the girls and their choreographed dances. Come see for yourself why this place is not a bar, it is truly an experience

Sad to see you go Mad River

Mad River has closed their doors after 9 years of being in business.  Sam Mustafa, CEO of the Charleston Hospitality Group comments “It is sad to see them close for several reasons.  First of all, Mad River was part of the Market Street “family of businesses”  and it’s sad to see any business close.    Second, this is possibly one of the worst times to suddenly lay people off.
Sam Mustafa goes on to say “We are growing and in need of good team members NOW!   Especially with the scheduled opening of Tabbuli West.   Employees of Mad River are encouraged to apply with the Charleston Hospitality Group.  Employees don’t even have to travel far from where they were going to work.  Queology which is located right next door offers award winning barbecue for those looking for a casual and fun atmosphere.  Then there’s the famous Market Street Saloon which provides visitors with the hottest party in Charleston and the #1 destination for bachelorette and bachelor parties where patrons are encouraged to jump on the bar for some high energy choreographed entertainment.”
Anyone displaced by Mad Rivers’ closing can send in their resume to or apply in person at Queology, Market Street Saloon, Tabbuli or any one of their locations.

New Weeknights at Market Street Saloon

Charlestonians have always known, for a rowdy good time, mosey on over to Market Street Saloon downtown.  I mean, seriously.  They encourage dancing on the bar?  That always makes for an interesting night and an even more interesting morning on Facebook’s news feed of photos.  After all, Saloon isn’t just a bar.  It’s an experience.

Saloon Nightlife

But Saloon is launching an all-new weekday promotion schedule June 17th featuring events fit for all types of crowds, and it’s running all summer long.

Military Monday is paired with Game Night.  Just flash your military ID and receive 50% of food AND drinks until 11:00pm.  Play a rousing round of beer bingo or everyone’s favorite pastime, cornhole.  You can also win fab prizes in the weekly beer pong tourney.

Who doesn’t love Tequila Tuesdays?  Throw back some $3 tequila and $2 PBR and get ready to dance.  Lessons in Merengue, Salsa, Tango, and other Latin dances start around 8:00pm on Tuesday evenings.

Tequila not your speed?  Well how about some good old-fashioned whiskey.  Wild N’ Wet Whiskey Wednesdays are here all summer long.  $3 Jack Daniels and $2 PBR are on special accompanied by Sexy Legs and Bikini Contests.  The competition will run for 6 weeks, every Wednesday, with the finals on July 31st.  One sexy lady will win $100 cash prize EACH week.

Don’t forget Queology is open late.  Just below Market Street Saloon, smoky BBQ is calling your name until 2:00am.  Come fork our pork.

Market Street Saloon coming to Wilmington, NC

A scene from the pilot episode of ‘Revolution,’ which began filming in Wilmington on July 16. Photo by Bob Mahoney/NBC

A restaurant on Market Street has gotten a makeover, but it doesn’t look shiny and new.

Instead, rusted-out cars and ivy that suspiciously crept up the side of Sticky Fingers over the past few nights have transformed the vacant restaurant at 5044 Market St. into a hideout for characters in “Revolution,” a new TV series that’s filming in the Cape Fear area.

“Revolution” is set 15 years in the future after an event changes life on earth: All electronic equipment ceases to function; airplanes fall from the sky and car engines stop running.

In the NBC series, a young woman named Charlie, played by Tracy Spiridakos (“Supernatural”), searches for her brother, who was kidnapped by a militia leader, while she seeks assistance from her estranged uncle.

Billy Burke from “Twilight” plays her uncle and Giancarlo Esposito from “Breaking Bad” is a militia leader.

The former Sticky Fingers will act as a rebel hideout during filming, which will take place between 1 p.m. and 4 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, according to a City of Wilmington film permit.

Passersby and motorists might get a glimpse of swordplay, a horse or two and several stunts as the good guys (the rebels) are attacked by the bad guys (the militia).

And if anyone hears gunshots in the area it’s likely film crews, according to the permit. But it’s always better to be safe than sorry, so if you are convinced there’s been an incident law enforcement should know about, call and report it.
